NETBALL

Netball is one of Australia & New Zealand's most popular female team sports but more recently it has expanded to Men’s & Mixed competitions.
The technical skills and physical demands of the sport on the player can be great. As a result, injuries do occur, the most common areas are ankles & knees (the lower leg area) and the wrist, hand and fingers which are commonly used to break the players fall as a natural reaction.

The REASON for these netball injuries in the ANKLE REGION are:
 Awkward landings, Player contact/collision, Slips or falls (poor court surface), Tiredness and  Sudden change of direction on court

RESULTING in Bruising, Fractures, Sprains, Muscle Tears and Dislocations

IN A RECENT STUDY OF NETBALL PLAYERS FROM the A.I.S.* elite programme, THEY SUMMARISED
"We did observe a reduction in ankle rotation (inversion/eversion) when wearing the shoes with a brace compared to the standard netball shoes during single leg landing and side stepping."

Many elite players use *Rigid Strapping Tape as a method to support their Ankles although very good for protecting ankles it is a costly exercise when done for every game!
